Upper Marlboro Pest Control is a call line covering Upper Marlboro and nearby parts of Prince George's County. It carries out no pest control work, holds no pesticide business licence and no applicator certification, and is not a licensed pest control business. Each job is performed by an independent licensed local pest control company engaged as the service partner for this area and responsible for its own work.

The obligations belong to that partner. For structural pest control work in Maryland it must hold the pesticide business licence issued by the Pesticide Regulation Section of the Maryland Department of Agriculture, designate at least one certified pest control applicator in every category in which it operates, demonstrate general liability insurance as that licence requires, apply products in accordance with their labels, and answer to the department, which accepts complaints against licensed firms and certified applicators. Wood-destroying insect findings are reported in writing on the state's Form MD-1 to the person who ordered the inspection. For a property inside the District of Columbia, the D.C. Department of Energy and Environment's Pesticide Program licenses the business and certifies applicators under its own rules.
